Athletics Day

Yesterday was Athletics day and I was very nervous about that. My mum said that she was coming so I calmed down a little bit. We had relays, sprints, 3 sticks, shot put and discus.

In the morning we just had a regular morning like maths normal stuff we do in the morning. We also had a normal morning tea, but after we had morning tea we had Athletics and I was getting butterflies in my stomach and my stomach kept getting worse and worse, so I tried not to think about Athletics. After morning tea all classes had to go on the field and sit in our classes. The first race was the egg race and I was in it, at first I thought it was the 100 metre race. We stood up and walked to the starting line. When it was our turn to run I jogged at first because it was a long race. When it came to the second rugby pole I sprinted all the way after that. Unfortunately I came third in the race. Up next was the 75 metre run, but I wasn’t in it because I didn’t want to run in it because I already ran in the 200 metre one. In that race Papiloty came first and Tua came second. We did the 100 metre run and I still came third. After that the juniors done their races and then the teachers and parents had a race. It was quite funny because my friend’s aunty fell while she was running. Later on it was lunch time and we were playing with the water. It was fun at lunch time and I hoped it never ended, but it had to, so after lunch it was the events time. We had relays and my room came first and second. After relays we had 3 sticks and I was the last girl standing together with 3 more boys. Riko was the winner and we beat room 10. Then we had shot put and the strongest people went up and competed the other class. Finally we had tug of war and my class was up to challenge room 10, and room 10 won. Then room 6 and 7 was up next and room 7 won. Finally the parents and teachers were in mixed teams, and my teachers team won. After that athletics day was over and we all went home and took a long break from all of the games we’ve played throughout the day.

We all enjoyed Athletics day and we all hope that we have it soon again.

How to play King Dodgeball

To play King Dodgeball you need to have two teams and it has to be on a court like the one in the picture. Next the teams have to be on seperate sides and they have one ball each, and one of the people has to be the queen or king. If your a queen or a king then you get two lives, so if you get hit with the ball then you aren't out, you have to stay in the box because you have two lives. So each teams have one ball each, and they have to throw it at eachother like normal dodgeball and if it hits your knee down then you are out, but you still are participating in the game. So if you get hit then you have to stand on the white lines outside the other teams box and your teammates have to try and pass it to you so you can throw it at someone on that other team. Finally another thing is that if the person that is still in they can catch the ball so that one of the teammates can come back into their box.

Garden to table

On Thursday my class and I went to our school garden and my teacher, Mr Naidoo decided that we should grab some veggies out of the garden. After we left our class we headed to our garden box and just cut some lettuce so we could make ourselves some sandwiches. My teacher said that if we cut the sides of the lettuce then it will grow back. Once we finished cutting our lettuce we went to the kitchen to assemble our sandwiches. Mr also provided us some tomatoes and mayonnaise. We lined up and made our sandwiches and then we ate them all up. Finally we finished it all and we really enjoyed the sandwiches we made with fresh veggies.

How to throw a shot put

Image result for shot put

First you have to hold the shot put with your finger and bring it back until it’s touching your neck and beside your ear. Then put your feet out wide and put your back foot bent down and face the back of yourself, then from that your going to twist around quickly, leading with your elbow pushing the shot put about 45 degrees. You also have to always keep your elbow high and the shot put close to your neck, starting with a low precision, leading with your hips and with a quick movement, and also extending your arm out.

My Holiday

Holidays are a time to catch up with your friends and family. My holiday was very boring because most of my holiday was spent at home, but it was quite fun because we went to exciting places like chipmunks, and the pools.

On the first Monday it was my cousins birthday and we went to chipmunks to celebrate it their, once we arrived there was a lot of people there because of the holidays. We went on lots of slides and we climbed a lot of things as well.

Later that week it was starting to get hotter each day, so my mum and aunty decided to take us to the pools. We went to the Pakuranga pools and it was packed as well. We spent a long time their, but when we knew it was time to get out we headed back home, and most of us straight away went to bed because we had an exhausting day at the pools.

Finally we had one more week until school and I didn’t like that because I loved the holidays because we got to stay up late or sleep in. On the last week we didn't know what to do so we stayed home and did some house work.

Holidays are quite boring, but also fun at the same time. I loved my holidays because we went to awesome places.
